‘Snapshots of Guinness’ is part of the Snapshots series which was shown for the first time at Art Source 2019 in the RDS in Dublin. The idea for the Snapshots series has developed from my interest in the built environment and the rich tapestry of history which is embedded within each and every building, street and city.

I paint using clean lines and strong colours. These bold blocks of colour suit the subject of largely urban environments, taking ‘snapshots’ of views which are the familiar evocative pieces that make up the jigsaw of the world we inhabit.

In 2022 I was commissioned by Guinness (Diageo plc) to produce a number of paintings and prints which would be sold exclusively in the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin (‘Snapshots of St James’s Gate’). This led on to a series entitled ‘Snapshots of Guinness’ which formed part of an exhibition in Ardclough, Co. Kildare, the birthplace and final resting place of Arthur Guinness. These ‘Snapshots of Guinness’ are now available on my website and ‘Snapshots of St James’s Gate’ prints are available in the Guinness Storehouse.

This 20-panel print features significant locations in the life of Arthur Guinness in both Dublin and Co. Kildare. These locations include the architecturally significant Guinness Power Station (now Roe & Co Whiskey), the birthplace of Arthur Guinness in Celbridge, Co. Kildare and also his final resting place in Oughterard Cemetery.
